Putting the cool back into Sunday School

About Oakwood Youth

Society pulls our youth in many different directions.  Since many of these directions are less than Christian, Oakwood’s Youth programs are designed to give youth a view of the world based on God’s Word.

Oakwood’s Junior and Senior High Youth Groups (grades 6-12) currently meets during our normal Sunday School hours of 9:15 to 10:15 on Sunday mornings. 

Junior High also meets on Thursday nights for a light Bible Study and fellowship time.

Senior High also meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday nights for a light Bible Study at Starbucks Coffee at IH 10 & Wurzbach.

Both groups participate in monthly outings including:  Christian concerts, tubing, skating, laser-tag, lock-ins, mission trips, and more.  We are always on the go, so come check us out!

1.  Since 85% of those who make spiritual decisions do so between the ages of 6 and 14, reaching this age group is of the utmost importance. 

2.  We believe that the best way to reach today’s youth is by 
establishing solid relationships with them.  Good Christian 
relationships are critical in establishing and maintaining spiritual 
growth. 

3.  We believe that it is wrong to bore a student with the Word of God.  God gave us His Word so that we could know Him better, and 
therefore, we must study His Word daily.   Our slogan is ‘if it’s not in 
the Bible, we don’t believe it’. 

4.  We believe that another way to grow spiritually is through Christian music.  Oakwood Youth’s extensive Christian CD and video library offers quality music to youth at a time when they decide what music they will listen to for the rest of their lives.
